Dolce Triade «Last Exile O.S.T.» (2003)
(1) For pure escapism into the wild blue yonder, it doesn’t get any better than the LAST EXILE Original Soundtrack, which delivers mesmerizing vocals and highly evocative instrumentals that will entrall and please those who love the grand sense of wonder and excitement that comes from this stylishly high-flying science-fiction adventure. This 19-track CD includes four vocal songs, starting with the rhythm-thumping signature intro song, «Cloud Age Symphony» and signing off with the tender closing theme song «Over the Sky». (2) Last Exile is one of the best anime series to come along in years, and part of that success is the music. Beginning with the Celtic-inspired pipes of the fantastic opening theme «Cloud Age Symphony,» this disc is a winner start to finish. The flute and strings of «A Morning in Norkia» are worth the cost of the disc by themselves–but don’t miss the sweet, John Lennonesque «Skywriting.» «Hello, Kitty Girl» has real personality between the flute and the bass notes, and hitomi’s voice is always welcome, as here in «Requiem in the Air.» The lyrics for songs with words are provided, along with English translations. Like the show, some pieces are dreamy, some are more made for action, and some are just ancient and wonderful. Whether or not you’ve seen the show (and you really should see it!), you should give this disc a shot. Instrumental fans won’t be disappointed, and fans of vocal tunes will be won over with the very first strains of «Cloud Age Symphony.»

Oii! :) As I’ve noticed, some people search for “Cloud Age Symphony” lyrics… All I can offer is this, an excerpt right from the anime, translated by Sylf of Exile Fansub. Here you go! ->(o_O)<-
Shuntaro Okino «Cloud Age Symphony»
«just keep on trying, keep on flying. I will be the light
yoake wo hitotsu no hajimari to suru nara
if we consider a dawn as one of the beginning points
ima ga kitaru beki toki dato suru nara
if we consider now as the time to be
kimi tono Cloud Age Symphony kumu no
umi no mukou ni hikari ga sasu
hou e
Cloud Age Symphony with you over the sea of clouds, where the light is guiding
ah, Mahou no you na isshun ni aeru noka?
ah, can we experience this moment like magic?
tsumetai yo wo hikikae ni hutari wa habataite
in an exchange during a cold night, the two fly away
eien wo tsukamu sono hate niwa…
and afterwards we grab the eternity…«

The music of the series were beautiful but to hear all of the songs in their entirety is a feast for the ears and the soul. In all my years, no song ever brought a tear to my eyes, but «over the sky» did that to me and it was perfectly put together.
